Month: January 2013

I bought an upright freezer! Oh, and I am back.

I feel like it has been forever since I posted something. I guess Christmas kept me really busy. I am trying to make 2013 my year for organization and I am off to a pretty good start. I have ripped apart my kids rooms and got rid of a ton of stuff. Thankfully they didn’t cry (I don’t even think they have noticed what is gone!). I don’t know about you but when I am disorganized I feel really “antsy”. I get frustrated when I can’t find what I am looking for and then all I want to do is give up and go watch TV (not productive). I don’t give myself the luxury of actually watching TV, so I suffer through the mess until I find what I need and ….PRESS ON! haha!

So, my first round of business with this whole organizing thing is my garage freezer. I have a 20-year-old chest freezer that I am sure is causing my electric bill to be sky-high. I dump in all kinds of fun things I buy at Costco and it all gets lost in the abyss. I know I can save more money if I could actually see what I have (I keep buying the same stuff) so I decided on an upright “all freezer”. I  began my search on Craigslist (have I told you how much I love Craigs?). I found what I wanted and stalked the lady with emails and texts until she called me back (you have to do that with Craigslist or you lose and I don’t want to be a loser!). I ended up with a fairly new freezer. It smells a little like sushi and fish because the nice Japanese couple I bought it from had used it for a month in their garage. They were going to open a sushi restaurant and the escrow didn’t close. Their loss, my gain! I aired it out and now it smells fine (the garage now smells like fish).

I took my road dog Naomi with me (she is my bodyguard incase they want to kill me and chop me up in little pieces) and we went to Chula Vista. We also had a set up with this guy Phil (another guy we found on Craigslist) to meet us after we purchased the freezer and haul it home. We waited outside the people’s house until Phil showed up with his pick up and we were on our way. Phil was the best 40 bucks I have ever spent. I didn’t have to bother my father in law for his truck, or Brad and his faithful friend Justin (he is Brad’s Naomi) to go pick it up. Phil is my new best friend.

So, now I have a new freezer and my project today is to clean out the old one and fill up the new one. Even Delaney likes the new freezer. She said, ” Mom, I am going out to the garage to look at the freezer again. It is so pretty and so white”.

Hmmm, whatever works for you Delaney!freeze

Another day in my life.
